Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

Inshore fishing this week was good up until Friday when the winds started to blow. We had good catches of snook, snapper, sheepshead, trout, tripletail, spanish mackerel and grouper.
The snook are around the bridges at night on the out going tide. Live baits have been working the best. The snook are also up on the flats and live baits and big plugs have been landing most of these fish.
The snapper are all along the channel edges and taking live shrimp. On two charters this week we had our limit of snapper in 45 minutes.
The trout have been on the flats at Harbor Branch and at Round Island. Soft plastic baits and live shrimp have been working well.
The sheepshead and grouper have been around structures in the river. Both of these fish are taking live shrimp. The tripletail have been around the channel markers and taking live shrimp. The spanish mackerel have been all over the river and taking most any baits you can throw at them.
Saturday, April 19, was a Teen Anglers Inshore Fishing Tournamnet. 1st place and heaviest fish went to Kadri Benton. 2nd went to Devin Moberg, 3rd was Chad Painter and 4th was Walter Mitchell. The teens had a tought day with all the slime grass in the river and the fish just didn't want to eat.
Until next week, good fishing.
