Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

September 9, 2005
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY - Reports of good snook action around the Sebastian Inlet and the bridges in Vero Beach. Live baits seems to be working the best. As the fall mullet runs starts look for snook, tarpon and redfish to be close behind.
ST. LUCIE COUNTY - The weather has been a factor all week making fishing tough. I did get a few reports of snook around the Taylor Creek area, the local bridges and the docks along the Inlet. Live mullet or a big feather has been working the best. On the catwalks of the South Bridge the reports were of sandperch, sheepshead, flounder and a few black drum.
MARTIN COUNTY - Again, the weather has been keeping most anglers on shore fishing for snook around the area's bridges and in the Inlet. Live baits like pinfish or a mullet has been hard to beat. Reports of a few snapper and black drum around the bridges and they were feeding on live shrimp.
OKEECHOBEE COUNTY - Bass fishing remains good for anglers using live shiners. Try the area around the mouth of the Kissimmee River. Still some blue gills being caught around the canals on worms and crickets.
BRAGGING BOARD - Got a call from Finest Kind Marina about Tyler Geist catching a 128 pound swordfish while fishing on the Bone Shaker and also about the boat - Cross Roads reports a 51 pound swordfish on 6 pound test. Barbara Shields of Ft. Pierce caught a snook on September 1st weighing 12 & 1/2 pounds and measured 33 inches. The fish was caught at 9:30pm in the Turning Basin on a live pinfish.
