Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

November 3, 2005
INSHORE - The inshore fishing has been hard with the dirty water and all the wind but the diehard anglers are reporting good trout action in the deeper holes and cuts during the morning hours and on the flats as the day warms up. Most of the daytime snook action has been at Taylor Creek Spillway and in the Ft. Pierce Inlet. Live baits like a pinfish, pigfish or a mullet have been the way to go. I did get reports of some redfish along the mangroves around the Queen's Cove area. There are still a lot of snapper, small grouper and sheepshead along the channel edges as well as plenty of jacks and ladyfish. Around the Ft. Pierce Inlet and in the Turning Basin the spanish mackerel, jacks and bluefish are starting to move inshore.
OFFSHORE - The sea conditions have been sloppy at best but some of the bigger boats have been reporting scattered dolphin in 160 to 200 feet of water, a few sailfish in around 100 feet of water and the kings have been in 60 to 90 feet of water. There has been plenty of bonita, sharks and cuda's all over the Treasure Coast. The bottom fishing has been steady over the reefs and wrecks for snapper, grouper and black sea bass. Along the beaches look for all the spainsh mackerel and jacks feeding on the schools of bait.
TEEN ANGLERS - The next monthly inshore fishing tournament for the local chapter of Teen Anglers will be held on November 13th at Jaycee Park in Ft. Pierce. If you would like more info on the Teen Anglers program just go to the web at www.teenanglers.org
