Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

NOVEMBER 10, 2005
INSHORE - The snook action during the daytime hours has been the best at the spillway in Taylor Creek. The best bite at night has been in the Ft. Pierce Inlet and around both the North and South Bridges. Live baits have been the way to go after dark. The snapper and grouper bite has been steady along the channel edges of the Intercoastal. The snapper have been feeding on medium size live shrimp. There have been a few nice pompano reported on the flats to the south of the South Bridge. The catch and release trout action has been good in the deeper holes. The trout have been taking soft plastic baits like the Zoom's and as the day heats up they have been taking a live shrimp fished under a popping cork.
OFFSHORE - The fish that have been reported this week have been out deep -- 350 to 500 feet. There has been a mix of dolphin, sailfish and a few wahoo. There were several cobia reported in 80 feet of water to the north of the Ft. Pierce Inlet. The kingfish have been in 60 to 90 feet of water and taking live baits. There is plenty of spanish mackerel and bluefish on the beaches and they are making their way into the River. The bottom fishing for snapper and grouper has been OK but not red hot. Try the Offshore Bar in 90 feet of water.
TEEN ANGLERS - The next monthly inshore fishing tournament will be this Sunday, November 13th at Jaycee Park in Ft. Pierce. The teen's will fish until noon and then they will have a weigh in. They will be awarded trophies, t-shirts and fishing gear for their efforts. If you would like to volunteer your time and boat just go to the web at www.teenanglers.org for more info.
