Fishing Report for Ft. Pierce, Florida

Capt. Joe Ward
December 1, 2005
Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

December 1, 2005

INSHORE - The inshore fishing has been good despite the wind and dirty water. There has been plenty of jacks, spanish mackerel and a few bluefish in the Ft. Pierce Inlet and at the Turning Basin. The snook fishing has been basically a night time thing with fish to 20 pounds being reported around the North Bridge and they have been taking live baits. The catch and release trout action around the Queen's Cove and Round Island area's has been good early in the morning. I did get reports of some redfish, black drum and snapper around the bridges in Ft. Pierce. If you are looking for pompano you will need to try to the south of the power lines and along the flats. Use a sandflea for the best results.

OFFSHORE - The big news is all the sailfish between the Sebastian and Ft. Pierce Inlets. The sails have been in 120 to 160 feet of water. The dolphin have been scattered in 250 feet of water and out deeper. We did have a nice 30 pounder come into the docks on Friday. The bottom fishing has been good when the seas allowed it. Look for the bait and birds along the beaches and you will find the spanish mackerel, jacks and bluefish.

If you would like to report a catch, call em at 772-201-5770 or e-mail me at [email protected]. You can also reach me on the web at www.captjoeward.com
