Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well this week has been a little better for snook fishing with the water temps up and the fish feeding. The Turning Basin and the Ft. Pierce Inlet were the spots that produced the most fish but snook were also caught on the North Bridge and on the South Jetty. For right now it seems that any live bait is working well. On Wednesday my charter caught 2 small snook (12 & 14 pounds) in the Turning Basin. We were switching between pinfish and live large shrimp. On Friday afternoon my charter got their limit of snook to 15 pounds.
The trout have been going crazy this week with steady catches of nice size trout coming from the flats at Harbor Branch, The Moorings, Big Mud Creek and the flats around the North Bridge. Jason Hinkle had 18 trout on two trips this week with the biggest one weighing in at 7.5 pounds. Jason was using live shrimp.
The sheephead, black drum, sand perch, flounder and pompono are biting steady. All seem to like live shrimp. The sheephead and black drum were caught around both the North and South bridges. The sand perch are just about everywhere. There were reports of pompono to the south in the river around the power lines.
The surf action was good this week also. Whiting, blue fish and pompono were hitting hard. Today (Sunday) there was a good run on pompono around Ocean Village. One angler got 3 nice size pompono taday. Another hot spot for surf fishing is on the North beach around Pepper Park and up towards Vero Beach.
Until next week, Good fishing.
