Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report
The ishore fishing scene this past week has been, well, awfull! With the winds the first part of the week and the rain (we really did need it) the last half of the week it has made it difficult for the boats to get out. There were a few reports of very brave anglers going to the North bridge and fishing. They were rewarded for their effort with nice size snook. There were reports of a 30 incher, 32 incher and a 34 inch snook being caught on the North bridge. All snook were caught on large live shrimp.
The Turning Basin was not the hot spot for snook this past week but Ritchie Gillespe did catch a nice flounder while fishing there. It weighed in at 3 & 1/2 pounds.
There were very few reports of trout and redfish but the ones that did go got a good fish. The North end of the river was the place for trout where a 6 pounder was caught and there were a couple of redfish also to the north around Harbor Branch.
While we are having all this down time because of the weather it is a good time to do maintiance on your fishing equipment and boat. Nothing would be worse than for the weather to get nice and you set out to fish and have old line on your reel or not changeg the plug in your motor or not greased your bearrings, ect. Take a minute to do a quick once over on your equipment and it could make the difference between a nice size fish and a broken line.
