Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report
The inshore fising scene has been jumpimg with good catches of snook, trout, snapper and even a flounder or two. With the weather getting better the fishing will steadly improve.
SNOOK - The South Jetty, North Bridge, Taylor Creek and the Turning Basin are producing the most snook. There have been reports of good catches of snook from 11 to 20 pounds. The North Bridge is still the hot spot for snook. There was one snook caught in the surf using a live finger mullet.
TROUT - The trout action has not slowed any this past week. The trout have been on the flats to the North in the river, Bear Point and around the Spoil Islands in 3 to 5 feet of water and using live shrimp. They have also been hiting on a dark green cotee jig. On Tuesday my charter had 9 trout to 4 & 1/2 pounds.
SNAPPER - The snapper are still in the river around most any structure you could fish near. Live shrimp and a trol-rite hook are the best bet. The snapper action seems to slow down by mid day.
FLOUNDER - There were a few flounder caught in the Turning Basin this past week. The bait of choice was large live shrimp.
SURF FISHING - The surf fishing has remained steady with good cathces of blue fish, pompano, whiting and sand perch. To the north the best spot was around P.V. Martins and to the south around Ocean Village.
