Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

Inshore fishing has remained good this past week even with the winds blowing the way they did. We have had good catches of snook, trout, snapper, grouper, tripletail, redfish, whiting and blue fish.
SNOOK - The snook were in the Turning Basin, Jetty and at both bridges. There were reports of snook being caught up to 20 pounds. Finger mullet, greenies, pinfish and large live shrimp landed these snook.
TROUT - The trout were up in the Round Island and Bear Point areas. One angler had trout to 7 pounds using live shrimp. On Wednesday, Friday and Saturday my anglers had trout to 7 pounds in both of these areas. We were using live shrimp and a popping cork.
SNAPPER - The snapper this past week have been caught off the end of the South Jetty. Live shrimp got these fish.
GROUPER - On Thursday my angler got into a school of grouper. We had 5 grouper to 9 pounds while fishing North in the river and using pinfish as bait.
TRIPLETAIL - The tripletail are back! Last Friday, Jay Sizemore, his daughter Heather and myself ran just outside the Ft. Pierce Inlet and managed to get 4 tripletail from 11 to 19 pounds. We were fishing by the buoys just outside the mouth of the Inlet.
REDFISH - The redfish were to the north in the river at Round Island. The redfish were not large but were legal size.
SURF - The surf has been producing a lot of whiting and blue fish. Avalon Beach and the area around Ocean Village have been the best bets this past week. Frozen shrimp was the bait fo choice.
REMEMBER to take a few minutes to protect yourself from the sun. HAT - SUNSCREEN - GLASSES - LONG SLEEVE SHIRTS - PLENTY OF WATER. I can never say these things enough!
Until next week, Good Fishing
