Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report
Inshore fishing was good this week until the winds started on Wednesday and this slowed things way down. Remember that snook are catch and release now. SNOOK SEASON IS CLOSED.
TROUT - The trout fishing has been excellent from Saturday thru Wednesday. The hot spots to the North were at Round Island and the flats at Harbor Branch. To the South it was at Bear Point, Midway Road and at the Power Lines. Live pigfish were taking the bigger trout but live shrimp were also working well. On two charters this week we got our limit of trout to 5 pounds each day. There was also a report of a 8 & 3/4 pound trout caught.
SNAPPER & SHEEPHEAD - The snapper and sheephead are still active at both bridges. Live shrimp are taking these fish.
TRIPLETAIL - On Wednesday, Jay Sizemore caught two nice tripletail just outside the mouth of the Ft. Pierce inlet. There were also a few tripletail caught along the channel edges.
TARPON - There were a few reports of tarpon starting to show up at Big Mud Creek.
REDFISH - The redfish were at Round Island the first part of the week.
CATCH OF THE WEEK - The catch of the week goes to my son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Tammy Ward for the 6 pound 14 ounce granddaughter, Savannah Ashleigh, that they gave us on June 5th. I am sure Rob will have her fishing before she can walk.
