Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report
The inshore fising this past week has been very slow except for the trout. The trout are on all the flats in the river and quite a few caught have been over the slot limit. The afternoon rain (which we needed) and the strong winds have not helped with the local fishing.
TROUT - The trout can be found to the North at the Moorings, Round Island and Harbor Branch. To the South at Bear Point, Big Mud Creek, Little Mud Creek and at the Power Lines. Jay Sizemore and Rob Ward caught 10 trout to 4 & 1/2 pounds on Tuesday. They were fishing at the Moorings and using live pigfish.
TARPON - The tarpon have made a showing a Big Mud Creek.
TRIPLETAIL - The tripletail were to the South in the river with one angler getting a 22 pounder.
SNAPPER - The snapper were at the North bridge this week. On angler got a 10 mutton snapper using frozen shrimp.
SURF - The usual were in the surf this week. Sand perch, whiting, jacks, blue fish and even a few mackerel.
REMINDER - With the summer weather here be sure to protect yourself from the sun. You'll be glad you did.
