Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

The inshore fishing has been good for the most part this past week with the action slowing down on Friday. The best time to fish has been from just before daylight until about noon.
TROUT - The trout fishing was excellent this week up until Friday when things were a little on the slow side. The trout have been on most all the flats in 3 to 5 feet of water and are feeding on live pigfish. Roger Clifton caught 2 nice trout at Harbor Branch that went 6 and 6.5 pounds.
SNOOK - Catch and release snook action has also been good this week in the Ft. Pierce Inlet. Brandon and Danny Hepker, from the Orlando area, caught and released 15 snook that went from 8 to 16 pounds! Brandon, Danny and their Dad were fishing in the Inlet and using live croakers.
SNAPPER & SHEEPHEAD - Both are still going strong at the bridges with most of the snapper running around 12 to 15 inches. Live shrimp is the ticket if you are lucky enough to find them.
TRIPLETAIL - The triples are still active around the channel markers and the buoys. Cammie Ward caught her first tripletail that weighed 5 & 1/2 pounds. Live shrimp fished on a troll-rite hook are the best bet.
SURF - The surf anglers are having a great time catching the whiting, blue fish and sand perch. They have been using fresh dead shrimp, frozen shrimp, sand fleas and cut bait. Everyone has their on favorite and all of them seem to be working.
Remember to protect yourself from the hot summer sun! HAT, SUNGLASSES, SUNSCREEN, LONG SLEVE SHIRTS, AND PLENTY OF WATER.
Until next week, Good Fishing!
