Haulover Inlet - Saltwater Fishing Report

Happy July Forth to everyone. Hope you are able to spend some time with friends and family for this Independence Day weekend.

Summer is here and so are the fish. Inshore fishing has been producing snook and tarpon. Most of the action has been in Biscayne Bay and the Beaches. Night time fishing the second reef for mangrove and yellowtail snapper have been productive as well. These night time trips begin at 630 pm and run to 1130 pm. It is a good way to get out the sun and provide table fare to you and your loved ones.

The mahi-mahi have showed up under the sargassum the past few days. They are also under debris. Most fish are in the school size with some bigger ones mixed in. I have also heard of some marlin being caught and seen the past few weeks underneath the sargassum.

We have been catching some nice bottom fish when the conditions are right. Anchoring up on a reef or ship wreck with light tackle and chum has been the best bet. Mutton snapper, black grouper, amberjacks, and big sharks have been the dominant.

The weather has been perfect lately and should stay this way for a while. Flat calm seas and lots of sun.

If you plan on booking a fishing trip or would like to take the family out on a cruise
or a swim give me a call.

Happy Independence Day,

Capt. Fred David
