Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Chase N' Tails Fishing Charters - Inshore Fishing Report -

Cold, Cold, Cold, Old man winter has arrived once again bring down strong north winds and cold day's. Fishing in winter is a back country thing you need to find warm water at least 65+ degrees there are many springs that litter the Nature Coast and creeks that lead into deep coves and ponds. A good thing to do is to get a map of the area and look at all the creeks that go into a cove / pond and when you find one look at the tides so you don't get stuck winter time we get negative low tides and these coves and springs will hold fish.

Trout and red fish are all over the back creeks and coves that lead into a spring or deep hole you can also find trout and reds along with sheeps head in the residential canals. Live shrimp or a 3" gulp shrimp on a 1/8 once jig head is the way to go, work the jig at a slow pace the colder the water temperature the slower the fish will move or pitch a live shrimp with the tail pinched off under a dock for some good action as well. Fishing in the springs will give you a good mix bag of lady fish, jacks, trout, red fish, & mangrove snapper.
