Great Fishing And Sscalloping

Capt. Josh Fritz
July 21, 2014
Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing is great in our local back waters, snook and red fish are chewing great on a incoming tide and first of the outgoing tide. Live bait is producing the best action I use green backs and pin fish rigged on a 2/0 to 3/0 circle hook with a 25 pound leader. Target points with a good current flow and oyster bars for reds and snook.

Trout action is picking up in the deeper grass flats 10 to 12 feet of water. A 1/4 to 3/8 ounce jig head and a white little John soft plastic by mriiolure or a white gulp shrimp is the way to go.

Shallow water grouper bite is good we are catching some studs 26 to 33 inch gags in 8 to 12 feet. Live green backs is the preferred bait.

Scallop season is unreal this year limits coming in very fast, water depth 4 to 7 feet NW of Bay port.

Book your fishing and or scalloping adventure ASAP not many dates left open.
