Hernando Beach Inshore Report

Capt. Josh Fritz
October 16, 2013
Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing is great in Hernando beach FL, the inshore and back waters along the Nature coast is filling up with red fish and trout. Reds are roaming the shallow back creeks and mangrove shorelines looking for food. Lures and live bait is working great, Top water skitter walks and spook jrs in bone and mullet colors are work great. Live bait for reds I would use a pin fish rigged with a 2/0 circle hook, trim the tail off and hook the pin fish in the tail end this will cause the bait to try and swim and flutter making the reds to eat them. Trout are in 2 to 6 feet of water target around grass flats, pot holes, oyster bars, and outer islands. Top water lures and mirr o dines 17MR in the 808 color is deadly to a trout. Popping corks rigged with a gulp shrimp or live shrimp, or small pin fish will put trout in the boat. The shallow water grouper action is off the hook in 6 to 12 feet of water. Troll deep diving plugs in the fire tiger and mullet color or anchor up and fish them with live pin fish. Book a trip ASAP fishing is very good in all depths of water.
