Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Summer fishing is heating up.
Summer is here and so is the heat, start your day early and prepare your self for the sun and heat. Drink water to stay hydrated wear plenty of sun block, a hat or wide brim hat sunglasses to protect your eyes.
Fishing is great right now we have tarpon all over the Florida Coast and right here in Hernando county is the stomping grounds for world record tarpon. We have shallow water that is crystal clear making sight fishing for poons as good as it gets. Fly fisherman come from all around the world to target this fish and so should you.
Gag grouper season starts June 1st and we are ready to take you to the grouper grounds. Gags have to be 24 inches and 2 per person bag limit. Trout are holding in 8 to 12 feet of water use a 1/4 ounce jig head with a little John soft plastic bounce the jig across the bottom twitching the rod tip. Red fish are holding around the outside points and Islands a high outgoing tide has produced a great bite, live green backs and pin fish for best bait. Cobia are all over the waters as well keep your eye out for them in a depths. Soon scallop season will start here along the Nature Coast.
Here at Chase N Tails Fishing Charters we can provide trips for large groups with two captains now my brother capt. Jonathan Fritz is available for weekend trips.
