Come Get A Tarpon

Capt. Josh Fritz
May 9, 2012
Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing the back country from Aripeka to Chazz is great, red fish are all over the place from the back creeks and coves to the outer points, and shore lines. Live bait is getting the most attention, pin fish and green backs are the way to go. Lures are working but the reds are being picky to what they want. Skitter walks in the mullet color are working in chazz. Trout are still in shallow water around rocks, oyster bars, and spotty bottom. Mirr O Lure 17mr in the 808 and 50 color are working great but the new clear/sliver broken glass is off the hook. Tarpon are here in great numbers, look from Bay port North in 2 to 8 feet of water depending on the tide. Top water baits and soft plastic jigs are getting bit. Colors to try out are brown / root beer, white, chartreuse, mullet color. Make sure you make a accurate cast in front of the leading fish, and try to be quiet as possible. If you see the tarpon boats polling please give them some room. Stop into Precision Tackle and check out the new Mirr O Dines 17mr that Dave got in. Book a trip and lets get you a TARPON.

Target Species:

Tarpon, Red fish, Trout
