Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

It was April 4, Saturday about 8:00 as I put in at Pete's Pier. The ramp was slippery than owl crap as I caught myself the first time but went bottoms down the second time. Damn Crocs, I said to myself as I dusted off my pants seat.
This morning we departed from the Plantation Inn. My new clients are Mike and Trisha Browne from Clermont.
The day started out breezy but by noon the bay had slicked off smooth. We could see the trout in the gin clear waters ahead of us. Trisha cast and landed the first trout and let out a yell!

We stopped for lunch after Trisha and Mike landed 5 nice keepers. Just the right amount for a fish fry that Trisha's Mom would cook later on. I might add that Trisha caught the biggest trout.
Tides were kind of funky for redfish, barely moving and not a very high tide. We came upon a small pod of reds and one of the bronze beauties ate Mike's bait. So, Mike outdid his wife true to his Mother's prediction. But there is no real competition between this happy couple.

Just take into account a 450-pound Blue Marlin that Trisha landed on the West Coast while at El Cid Marina in Mazatlan to her husband's 250-pounder.
A couples picture of the one that did not get away back at the Plantation Inn.
