Homosassa Fishing is March Madness!

Capt. "Red Ed" Brennan
March 26, 2011
Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Madness has just begun! The weather is beautiful, sunny and in the 80's, sometimes breezy, sometimes flat calm! The Gulf of Mexico water is pristine clean, (you can see the fish coming), and the water temperature has reached 73 degrees. Some days the bait fish are surrounding the boat and the bite is about to EXPLODE!! We are transitioning to summer time conditions and fun filled days on the water! It's almost hard not to catch Spanish Mackerel and I'm talking some "axe handle" size fish! Just drop a chum bag over board and wait for the excitement to begin! On a recent charter, fishing with the Painter family from Lakeland, we caught 19 Macs and at least 10 Speckled Sea Trout, with 12 year old Lexi, catching a 21 inch Spanish that she named Tyler and proudly walked around the marina for everyone to admire. Of course her smile was from ear to ear! Cobia have also been showing up in the chum slicks so be ready for these hard fighting monsters! Most of the Trout on the flats are still on the small size with the large "Gator" Trout patrolling the rocky shorelines and oyster bars. The Redfish are up in the creeks and have to be hungry. Try throwing a live Shrimp or cut Pinfish and enjoy the never give up fight of the "Bronze Bruisers". If you haven't taken advantage of our "Introductory Special", the first time you fish with me, it's only $299.00 for a full day charter for one to four anglers and includes everything except your lunch and beverages. Check our web-site, www.HomosassaRedfish.com, for more details or to book your unforgettable day on the water. Don't wait as prime days in April and May are filling fast.

Special thanks to everyone that stopped by to visit at the Tampa Tribune Outdoor Expo and Boat Show hosted by Frank Sargeant. Wow, you folks are making us feel like celebrities! We really enjoying coming to Tampa seeing old friends and meeting new ones and telling our story about Florida's Last Best Kept Secret, Homosassa! Congratulations to Tim O' Brien, M. Gregoy and DT Yaeckel you were the winners of the drawings at the show for a FREE full day charter, good for one year from the show date. Please contact us to reserve your charter. We had so much fun; we've already reserved the same booth location for next year's show. I've included some photos from our booth at the show the first one is the show host, Frank Sargeant with the "Redettes", the second shot is Captain Rick Murphy from Sportsman's Adventures, and last but surly not least, my mentor and a true Florida legend, Captain Bill Hope from Chassahowitzka.

On April 7th, we'll be filming an episode for the Hook, Line & Skillet TV show broadcast nationwide on the Sportsman Channel. This is a new show premiering March 29th and unlike most fishing shows it's a "Catch-And-Eat" fishing show. We're real excited about the opportunity to share our knowledge of Florida's Nature Coast with Chef Pete Flores. Special thanks to all our friends at Homosassa's Riverside Resort for everything they've done to help with the show. Watch our upcoming fishing reports for the broadcast dates of our Homosassa episode.
