MAN, the fish are on fire right now, today me and one of my buddies went out there and poked around, trying to find some fish and a good time. We ended up shutting off the motor in the main river and fishing all the way through false channel and sam's bayou on out to the gulf. We saw a fair number of nice size reds and got a few nice trout. Most of the reds were up on the rocks, right on the edge of the water with their noses down and would't touch anything, except for a few more active fish that took some cut finger mullet.. There are tons of lady fish, especially around the mouths of creeks and around the rocky areas in-between the mouth of the Homosassa River and to the

mouth of mason creek, and mixed in with those ladies are some very nice gator trout. My good friend Capt. Mike Baize hooked into a Tarpon today out by the mouth of St. Martins River! He was pompano fishing and one of the pompano "Got Big" as we like to say. His client was able to keep it on for 4 jumps and then the poon shook the hook. What a surprise, especially in February! The sheepies are still biting strong on the inshore rocks, but fish shallow, they will be done spawning with in the next few weeks, meaning that they will be on the move back in shallow. There are snook all through the river, and cob redfish in the creeks and up in the fresh, warm water. Pick your days well and the fish will fill your cooler!

Homosassa Fishing Forecast:

The fishing will continue to be good through the month, especially on days before fronts move through, or when the water temp climes above 66 degrees. I am seeing a good trend in the trout fishing, and there are alot of red fish showing up around homosassa, so this is the time to go!

Target Species:

Red Fish, Trout, Pompano
