Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Spotted seatrout catches have been steady along Homosassa's coast this past month. This action should continue for the next few weeks .
To catch spotted seatrout first you must have the right bait. There are many that will work but a few favorites of mine are the MirrOlure 4" soft plastic baits in rootbeer or watermelon seed.
One-eighth to one-quarter ounce Cotee or Bass Assassin jig heads in red are used to put the plastic tails on to get the bait down to the bottom.
A long cast, drop and pop or twitch technique works well in depths between 6-8 feet of water.
Also, MirrOlure Classic and Series III lures that are sturdy in a hard body mold provide action for all game fish the gulf offers. The TT23 in black and gold a Classic model that result in nice trout catches.
Areas to fish include Homosassa Bay and the Bombing Range or Foul Area that is about 7 miles northwest of Marker 10 of the Homosassa River Channel.
In the mix are Spanish mackerel, bluefish, ladyfish and a variety of bait fish that provide constant action and fun for the kids.
You can purchase these baits at Wal-Mart or MacRae's of Homosassa or go online at mirrolure.com
