Today we had a great November Offshore Charter, we were blessed with perfect weather and perfect fishing conditions. We got most of our grouper in 30-40 feet of water on large rock structures using live pinfish. We limited on grouper so early in the day that we decided to take advantage of the flat seas and run out to do some Amber Jack fishing in 70 feet of water. The first wreck we pulled up to was covered in blue runners, so we hooked a few on vertical jigs and tried free-lining them out behind the boat (hoping for some big kings) after about 2 minutes we were startled by a huge splash off the back of the boat! A 4-foot Cuda grabbed the fast swimming blue runner with furriery and the reel started screaming in protest as this powerful fish just kept on swimming away from the boat. After a 15 minute fight we landed the big Cuda took a few quick pictures and let him go to terrorize more fishermen… We then moved a few more miles out to the next wreck and the AJ's light up the screen, I thought Christmas had come early! We ended up catching about 20 of them before we got our 3 keepers on live bait and vertical jigs. After the last keeper hit the deck we decided that it was time to go home, we were all just to tired to drop another bite. I can't wait to get back out there again tomorrow and do it all over again. If it is grouper you are after, then there is no need to go past 40 feet of water this time of year, they are all over the rocks in 20-30 feet of water and ready to chew!
