Fishing Report for Homosassa, Florida

Capt. Mike Locklear
May 20, 2001
Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Finally the gulf temperature reached 80 degrees. A little southeast to southwest winds help the tarpon to show up in there usual spots.

Capt. Ted Johnston guided Greg Hager of Inverness to 3 tarpon between 80-120 pounds in 2 hours fishing.

The next day Hagar was seen fishing alone and he hooked what appeared to be a fish well over 170 pounds.

Mostly my days of late have been one mishap after another. Tarpon are moving too fast and no head ons.

Looks like a lot of the real big fish have moved offshore to spawn. The number of fish seen each day vary to a few to plenty.

Nothing to really brag about yet. But a good friend fell overboard and made us all laugh. He is a guide but I will protect his identity.

Until next time, keep your fly rod tip low and strip strike them hard.
