Fishing Report for Homosassa, Florida

Capt. Mike Locklear
November 19, 2004
Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Homosassa Guides Catches of Redfish and Trout

Today, Captain Mike Locklear guided Ron and Christine Cube originally from Wyoming to their limit of 10 trout between 15 ˝ and 18 ˝ inches. At least 10 more trout were released unharmed. All trout were landed using the cork rigs with Cotee lead jigs and plastic tails. With temperatures in 80’s, the Cubes, now Homosassa residents were smiling about their friends freezing back in Wyoming where the low temperature was forecasted to be 10 degrees.

Also, Locklear took his Dad, Eustace, age 78 and friend, Sandra Ruvo fishing. Mr. Locklear (Big Daddy) caught the biggest trout of the day using a 7M floating Mirrolure. The pair ended up with 4 nice keeper trout in 3 hours fishing.

Gray’s Vulcan Materials of Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee were here this past month for a special fall trip that consisted of some relaxing, wining and dining with trout and red fishing.

Vulcan VIP Dennis Atkins of North Carolina hosted a fine group of men to enjoy some great trout fishing and dining. Limits of 5 trout per person were met as well as limits of reds with Captains Mike Locklear and Fred Lyles. Of course, a few Coors Lights were consumed and the Cuban sandwiches from Publix were as good as they get.

A special guest of Atkins, Wiley of Tennessee, developed a special technique to catching Homosassa trout using a method I can not disclose. Just kidding, they all had a great time limiting out on trout and catching and releasing a load of small redfish with one keeper that they will be back again to duck hunt and go fishing again before the year is over.

John Barnes of Virginia and Dawn brought a group of men from Virginia who enjoyed some great trout fishing with Capt. Mike Locklear and Capt. Fred Lyles. Some Spanish mackerel were landed along with several limits of trout. A huge 7-pound Pompano was caught aboard Lyle’s boat.

Remember if you are too busy to go fishing, well you are just too busy!
