Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Homosassa Guides Show Off
Hot fishing action on the Homosassa Bay in January is dependent on warm weather and great guides. The past week water temperatures have been warmer than normal and super trout action resulted for Captains Charlie Harris and William Toney. Both guides reported high numbers and limit catches kept. Harris limited out every single day this past week. Capt. Toney counted 53 released spotted sea trout between 16-19 inches.
Areas just outside the mouths of the river and creek mouths in sloughs have been most productive. Top water Mirrolures and Cotee jigs with Cajun Thunder Corks will produce catches. Swimming baits such as jerk baits also are a favorite.
Nature Coast Fly shop owner Darryl Seaton introduced Orvis representatives Bill Bullock and Tom Evenson to Capt. Jim Long who is now inducted into the Orvis Guide Program. Capt. Long joins Capt. John Bazo as one of two special Orvis endorsed guides of Citrus County. This is a special recognition as these guides will be using Orvis equipment only.
