ACCLAIMED CHEVY FLORIDA FISHING REPORT EXPANDED TO 90 MINUTES
NEW SEASON OF AWARD-WINNING FLORIDA FISHING & OUTDOOR SHOWS PREMIERES March 31, 7:00 P.M.
ORLANDO - With its wide-ranging lineup of popular Florida fishing and outdoor programs and its talented production/on-air staff, Sun Sports is getting set for the new spring season.
The regional sports network is expanding its Emmy Award-winning CHEVY FLORIDA FISHING REPORT, scheduling three dedicated fishing/outdoor programming blocks on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and producing an all-new edition of its compelling behind-the-scenes series UNDER THE LIGHTS focusing on fishing in Florida.
CHEVY FLORIDA FISHING REPORT is expanding from one-hour to a full 90 minutes this year after its highly successful first season. Pioneered by Sun Sports and undoubtedly the only show of its kind currently on television, this live series gives Florida's fishing enthusiasts a full news report each Thursday evening (7pm) on where the fish are biting, what's biting and tips from some of Florida's most renowned anglers in a fast-paced, entertaining and informative style. With live reports from expert anglers in eight (8) different Florida regions, the show quickly gained a following in its 2004 inaugural season with its unique presentation.
Hosted by Sun Sports' Whit Watson and Capt. Rick Murphy, CHEVY FLORIDA FISHING REPORT will also add more interactive elements and features this season.
Each Thursday, Friday and Sunday beginning March 31, viewers all across Florida, from the Keys to the Panhandle, will be treated to programming blocks dedicated exclusively to fishing and outdoor sports (see attached schedule). Thursdays from 5pm-2am; all day Fridays from 8:30am-5:30pm and Sundays from 5pm-midnight on Sun Sports will be filled with fishing/outdoors shows.
The network's GMC OUTDOORS lineup this season includes four shows: "Sportsman's Adventures," "Mark Sosin's Saltwater Journal," "Addictive Fishing" and "Fishing the Flats/Fins & Skins." These and other shows, along with the much anticipated return of the CHEVY FLORIDA FISHING REPORT series on March 31, are part of a 17-show outdoor/fishing lineup on Sun Sports this season.
In addition, recognizing the enormous popularity of fishing in the Sunshine State, Sun Sports will produce a special episode of it's acclaimed UNDER THE LIGHTS all-access series that will shed light on various aspects of the industry here in Florida as well as demonstrate how each week's live episode of the CHEVY FLORIDA FISHING REPORT is put together.
That program, UNDER THE LIGHTS: FLORIDA FISHING, is hosted by Whit Watson and premiered Sunday, March 27, at 7pm. Replays are scheduled for 3/29, 10:30pm; 3/30, 10 am & 8pm (S. Fla. only); 4/1, 7:30pm (S. Fla. only); 4/12, 7:30pm & 11:30pm; 4/21, 4pm; 5/10, 11am; and 5/11, 11:30pm (ET).
"Florida offers anglers some of the best fishing and boating destinations in the world," said Cathy Weeden, Sun Sports vice president and general manager. "The success of these programming blocks is evidence of Sun Sports' ability to develop, produce and present relevant programming tailor-made for our Florida audience."
Launched in 1988 as Sunshine Network, Sun Sports' programming lineup includes the NBA's Orlando Magic and Miami HEAT, the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida State University, the University of Florida, as well as programming from the ACC and SEC.
The network also produces original programming from its studios at Universal Studios Florida, all focusing on sports from Florida and the region including CHEVY FLORIDA FISHING REPORT, CHEVY TAILGATE SATURDAY, SPORTSTALK LIVE, UNDER THE LIGHTS and more.
Sun Sports is available in more than 6.1 million cable and satellite homes in Florida, nationwide via satellite, and much of its local/regional programming is available to digital cable subscribers outside Florida via Fox College Sports.
