Fishing Report for Homosassa, Florida

Capt. Mike Locklear
May 1, 2006
Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Three At A Time

For those of you check my site for fresh news once a week; you know I am overdue, so I have good fishing to report. Today three of us had three triple hook-ups on trout and landed our limit in about a half hour of fishing.

We fished hard for all morning for three keepers on the outgoing tide and then the wind went calm. Later the sea breeze came up and brought warmer incoming water. At 2:30 P.M. I spotted a wad of trout in 4 feet of water that just gobbled up our Bass Assassin goldfish shads.

After finishing up with the limit of 5 trout each we went to one redfish spot and quickly reeled in three keeper reds in about 15 minutes of fishing. We used shiner tails for bait.

This upcoming week looks good climate wise. Water temps cooled off last weekend and I took three days off because of high winds to rest up for the busy month ahead. Last Sunday I jumped a tarpon on the fly rod, about a 50 pounder. Looking to find some poons soon as the water temperature rises to the mid 70’s.
