Fishing Report for Homosassa, Florida

Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tarpon Leave Flats-Enter Homosassa River

Tom Schell of Jackson Hole stars on my latest picture gallery. If you go to my web site and picture gallery you can see photos of the tarpon jumping, one of four he got tight on the week of May 14.

Tarpon have continued to be elusive and the last cold front put the water temperature down lower than what the poons like and they took a hike. Hopefully, they will be back when the water temps rise to 82 degrees.

Phil Oakes has been wearing out the big tarpon in the Homosassa River off his dock. I heard he jumped in his boat and followed the fish several miles up and down the river.

His wife Gail, is General Manager of Riverside Resort and they live across from Monkey Island. Both of the Oakes have enjoyed pulling on the big poons.

Be safe this weekend, if you are brave enough to go out, make sure you have all your safety equipment up to snuff. And please for everyone's safety do not drink too much alcohol. The waterways will be overcrowded and there will be some stupid people out there driving boats and crashing into each other... so please be careful.
