Fishing Report for Homosassa, Florida

Capt. Mike Locklear
June 4, 2007
Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

On Thursday night and Friday morning we have had some much needed rain; about 3-5 inches depending on where you live. Just before the arrival of TS Barry on Friday, John Euart and family fished with captains Marvin Williams and Ray Wallace Jr.

Our boat caught the most trout with 8 nice keepers before noon. We came into Suarez Island and performed a delicious shore lunch.

We headed back out with bellies full and got into some really nice sized redfish in the high slot. John landed one that was 26 inches. Will landed a nice one and lost a big one that almost took him under the boat before pulling the hook. Just kidding Will!

Saturday brought the much needed rain and the storm weakened. We all went back out at noon and Capt. Wallace put Kathleen on the biggest redfish. Chris and May-May's Mary Kathleen reeled in a keeper redfish of 18-inches. Marvin Williams proved to us that trout do bite right after a storm with 7 keepers You can see these recent catches in my photo gallery.

Not much action on the tarpon last week with the high wind and clouds from the remants of Barry. At least the wind has shifted to the west and is bringing in warmer gulf temperatures and hopefully a lot more tarpon. Capt. John Bazo did have a bite on Friday.
