Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Homosassa Super Slam by Team Kaplan and Capt. Mike Locklear
Spring has sprung! It is here! Yesterday was an awesome fish catching day. Dr. Kaplan
and his 5 year old son reeled in almost every kind of fish in just a few hours fishing. First
the little fellow caught gag grouper. Then he managed a 3 pound sheepshead all by
himself. Several grunts and a few more grouper began the quintilla Homosassa Slam.
A nice drift produced ladyfish and several 3-5 pound Spanish mackerel. We went
inshore and the little guy outfished his Dad by catching a speckled trout of about 2
pounds. After a quick photo, we released it. Then Nickie really rubbed it in by hooking
a redfish all by himself! Then another redfish. Dr. Kaplan managed a blow fish or two
and on his last cast managed a keeper size redfish to give us our limit.
Well, I am heading down to the Frank Sargeant show today. This is the biggie of all
outdoor shows in my opinion. It is located at the fairgrounds off 301 and I-4. Come on
out if you are in the Tampa area.
