This Week's Fishing Report
Despite our typical nasty, windy and rainy March week, we still managed to find some fish that were willing to play. Overcast and windy conditions made for tough sight fishing, so most of our fish were taking blind casting 3 " DOA CAL Jigs in areas known to hold fish.
I was pleased to have anglers willing to tough it out this past week, because otherwise I wouldn't have had the opportunity to fish at all.
On my first adventure I had the pleasure of fishing a 5 hour charter in the rain with a father and son team Billy and Bill from Orlando. It was wet and windy, but we still managed to find fish for Bill to catch with his dad on spring break.
On my next adventure it wasn't raining, but it was real cold and the wind was blowing at 30 knots from the north. I did not have good feelings about both days, but I glad I had anglers willing to fish, because despite being wet, cold and miserable, the fish were chewing and the company was excellent.
Yesterday, I took a shot at fishing the cobia and tripletail out of Port Canaveral and we were turned back by overcast skies and 4 by 4 seas. The water temperature was 64 degrees at the Port entrance, so we need the water to warm up to around 68 degrees.
The water temperatures are slowly warming up and soon we will be transitioning into spring fishing patterns, so stand by for cobia.
As always, if you need information or have any questions, please contact me.
Good luck and good fishing,
Captain Tom Van Horn
