Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Indian River and Offshore Sebastian Report
The last two weeks on the Indian River have been tough since the large amount of rain caused extreme freshwater run-off into the system. Water clarity is very poor and sea grass beds have suffered. A few trout and snook cooperate each trip and the fish being caught have been on the larger size. I have been trying many different techniques and they all have produced fish from time to time. Ladyfish and jacks have been the most active during this dirty water period with most fish coming from deep water along the ICW. Try Crystal minnows, top-water plugs, jerk baits, and SOF-spoons. Early mornings and late evenings remain the best times to fish.
In contrast to inshore, offshore action has been hot. Kingfish, small dolphin, and bonita have been very active from sun-up to about 12:00 pm. All fish have been coming on slow trolled live bait. Spanish sardines have been producing our fish. This past weekend we boated 13 kings and two barracudas and lost several other fish. These kings were running fairly large, up to 40 lbs. Several areas around Bethal shoal have been producing these fish.
Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
