Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report
Indian River Report - Sebastian Area
With days in the 80s and nights in the 60s water temps remained warm this week. As a result, trout have been active most of the day in shallow water on and around flats and islands. However, low water levels have made it tough to get into some of the better areas. Be careful navigating during this low water period. Ripping up the flats does no one any good. Most of the fish have come on green twister tails with a few fish hitting top-water. Work the jigs slowly along the bottom with sharp jigging action to trigger strikes. Jacks and ladyfish have been frequenting the same areas. We even picked up a few silver trout on our last trip.
Reds have been scarce this week. Actually they were non-existent. Water clarity has been poor, so sight fishing for reds has been difficult. The few reds we have caught over the past few weeks have been working very shallow water. When you find these fish, try using jerk baits or SOF spoons.
If water temps hold in the 70s fish should continue to be active most of the day with heavy feeding during the last two hours of the rising tide. Concentrate on the flats as the water rises, fish will be taking advantage of the new foraging areas and the current which brings them food.
Until next time,
Tight-Lines to all
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
