Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report
Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon Report - Sebastian Area
Water temps are into the mid-80s. Consequently, trout have been active very early in the morning most days. During a few days we have done well through 10 am depending on wind conditions. If the chop came up we did well, if it stayed calm things shut down early. The trout have been taking top-water plugs and jigs. I have been concentrating on the edges of shallow bars and flats were the wind has been creating some current and funneling bait. Redfish have been scattered in the same areas. These fish have been taking Riptide jerk baits. The golden glow color has been producing the best. There have not been a lot or reds, but when we have found them they have been, for the most part, hungry and willing to eat. During calm mornings it has been necessary to pole to get close to feeding fish because the water has been pretty clear in the areas I have been fishing. Jacks and ladyfish are active in many areas and a load of fun to catch. Top-water plugs, Riptide jerk baits, and jigs have been effective for these fish. Snook have been active in the mornings and from 1hr. before dark into the dark hours. The dark hours have been the best. Some of the fish have been in the 10 lb. range, but most have been smaller. Top-water plugs and jigs have been the most effective. Fish mangrove shorelines and flats near mangroves. Expect 2-10 fish in a 3 hour period. Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
