Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon Report - Sebastian Area
Well, the fishing the past week remained good. The trout bite has been the best during the early mornings, but late evenings haven’t been bad either. Top-water plugs remain the best producers very early, especially for larger fish. After the top-water bite slowed, a switch to Rip Tide Brand weedless shrimp produced several more nice fish each morning. Work the Rip Tide’s with rapid jerky motions followed by a pause to let the bait sink back to the bottom.
The redfish action has been a bit more predictable the past several days. Very early and very late the fish have been taking top-water plugs, but during other times of the day the Rip Tide weedless shrimp have been the ticket. Such was the case yesterday when Team Tight-Lines (myself and Capt. Jeff Kraynik, owner of the Coastal Sportsman) posted a 3rd place finish in the trout and redfish categories with a 4.6 lb. trout and 3.9 lb. redfish in the First Annual Home Builders and Contractors Association of Brevard Double Slam tournament. We were on trout and reds most of the day, but could not connect with the larger fish we needed for a win. Oh well, there is always next time.
The summer weather pattern has settled in for the most part, so the fishing should be fairly predictable for the foreseeable future. Early mornings and late evenings will be the best times. During the bright moon period fish the falling tide during dark hours for some great snook and trout action. Until nest time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
