Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon Report-Sebastian Area
We have been picking up some nice trout and a few reds, overall, however I would call our catching during the past week below par. We have been getting on some fish in the 3 to 4 lb. range early, catching a few, and then losing our touch, making too much noise, or something. Hopefully I can get out of this funk fast. Well, tomorrow is another day! The wind has not helped of course, and has dictated where and how we fished. The trout have been in shallow grass of around 1 to 2 feet of water. These fish have been willing to take top-water spooks early in the mornings and late in the evenings, but soft plastics have been the most productive other times of the day. My best luck has been using Rip-Tide Brand Weedless Shrimp in the New Penny color and also their Flats Chub in the same color. The reds have been in very shallow water of a foot or less during late mornings and on through the day. We have been finding scattered fish over muddy and sandy areas. By far the most productive lure has been the Rip-Tide Weedless Shrimp. Jacks and a few ladyfish have been using the same areas as the trout and taking the same lures. Some of the jacks have been in the 8 lb. range, large for this time of year and a lot of fun. Snook action should pick up if water temps continue their recent trend upwards. Night fishing for snook and trout will be coming on soon. Can’t wait. Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
