Central Indian River Lagoon

Capt. Ron Bielefeld
June 27, 2004
Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Report-Sebastian Area

The fishing the past week has been good early (5am) through about 9am. We have been catching snook, trout, and a few reds. The fish has been feeding in very shallow water early. After about 7am, I have been switching to deeper water of about 4 feet or so to keep the action coming. With the southeast winds I have been concentrating my efforts on point and shorelines that the wind is pushing bait towards. I have been targeting areas with good grass and sand and large schools of mullet. To get the attention of the fish I have been using large top-water plugs. Dark colors early and lighter color after the sun is up. The full-size super spook and the large top dog have been productive. Later in the mornings I have had my best success on shallow-running crack baits. Deep water dock and break walls also have been producing some nice snook later in the mornings.

Evening fishing has been poor due to the very warm water temps. The fish have not started to feed until dark. The next full-moon period should be a good one. Fish the dark high tide to get some great snook and trout action. Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.

Sincerely,

Capt. Ron
