Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon Report-Sebastian Area
Well, I was out of town over the 4th. Got some fishing in this past week, but not much because I was sick. Summer colds are the worst! Anyway. Early mornings have been the ticket for fast action; trout, snook, jacks, ladyfish, small tarpon, and a few reds. The areas I have been fishing have not changed, nor has my choice of baits or presentation. Very early I have been using large top-water plugs in areas with a lot of large mullet and other baitfish. Later I have been switching to diving plugs like the Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnow and the Corky. I also have caught a bunch of fish on the Rip-Tide Brand Jerk Bait in the New Penny color worked a various depths. I have found that a slow erratic retrieve has worked best no matter what bait I am using. After about 8am I have been fishing deeper water for snook. I have also picked up a few nice reds and trout in the deeper areas. By deep water I mean 4-6 feet. Early in the mornings the fish have been feeding in 1-2 feet of water. I should get a lot more fishing in the coming week so I will have a much more detailed report next week. Until then, Tight-Lines To all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
