Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon Report - Sebastian Area
Well, hopefully the weather will settle down a bit. My prayers go out to those who were hard hit by hurricane Charlie. We in the Sebastian area were lucky, we received nothing more than a bit of wind and some rain. It has been tough to fish with all the rain and storms of late, and when we have gotten out, the catching has been only fair. However, we are catching a variety of species including trout, reds, snook, tarpon, jacks, and ladyfish. I have been fishing mostly very early and very late if the weather has allowed. Top-water plugs have been working during the dim light periods and diving plugs and Rip Tide Brand jerk baits have been catch some fish during brighter periods. The largest trout and snook have been taking very large spooks and poppers. The rain and periodic strong winds have made the water murky. Only the areas with the healthiest grass flats have maintained clear water. We are not far off from cooler weather and the start of the fall bait migration. Once the water cools a bit and the bait arrive the fishing should go crazy. I can’t wait. Until then, keep fishing the prime dim light and dark periods of the day to satisfy your cravings for tight lines. Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
