Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Report-Sebastian Area
Now I want the wind to listen to me. Stop blowing! Well, it has been windy alot lately, but we have been getting out fishing from time to time. The wind has made the fishing tough and has made the water very murky in many areas. The water temp is also a bit chilly, so altogether, the fishing conditions have been less than ideal. Trout, reds, jacks, and ladyfish have been the main targets and we have been able to get some good catches despite the condtions.
The larger trout (2-5 lbs.) and reds (slot-sized fish) have been most active during mid-day over muddy bottom in shallow water or along the breakes between deep water (5-7 ft.) and shallow water (1 ft. or so). We have been working Rip Tide Brand weedless shrimp slowly along the bottom or casting Yo-Zuri shallow running plugs and ripping them with a stop and go motion.
Smaller trout, jacks, and ladyfish have been holding in 3-5 feet of water and they have been hitting the Yo-Zuri plugs. Again, the best action has been mid-day for these fish.
I hope the weather starts to improve (warmer temps and less wind) soon. The fish should begin to feed more and the catch numbers should increase. Until next time Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
