Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon Fishing Report-Sebastian Area
Sorry it has been so long since my last report, but there really has not been anything different to report over the last few weeks. The hot weather and relatively calm weather continues and the fishing remains best during early to mid-mornings for trout, snook, and reds on and around the grass flats near Sebastian. Look for clean water, grass, and bait and you will usually find fish. Top-water has been productive very early with Rapala Skitter Walks in the silver and black and holographic green color patterns producing fish. Of course the old stand-by Storm Chug-bug has been producing as well especially when the water has had a bit of a chop and the bait is very abundant. After the sun peeks over the horizon a switch to a soft plastic such as the Rip Tide Brand jerk bait has been the trick to keep the action coming. Live shrimp also have been working when the current is moving. Try the deeper areas around the spoil islands. The fish have been feeding in 2-4 feet of water during these times. A moderate speed retrieve has been garnering the most strikes. Late evenings have not been very productive recently, at least for me. The water temps just have not cooled off enough to get the fish to start feeding. A few fish have been coming from deeper docks during this period of the day. Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
