Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon Fishing Report-Sebastian Area
Sorry for the extended period between reports, but family life has been busy. The weather has caused some issues lately, but hey, we can’t complain now can we. The fishing has been good when the weather has been good, early morning trout, snook, and reds. Some nice snook have been roaming the inlet and surf as well as the lagoon. Most fish have been coming on jigs and soft plastics just after sun up in the lagoon and on live pigs in the Inlet. Rip Tide Brand Jerk Baits and DOA split tail shads have been the best artificials. The more natural color patterns have been the best producers (i.e., stay away from orange, lime green, etc.). Yo-Zuri 3D Fingerlings and Rapala X-raps have been producing fish along with the jigs. We have been targeting grass in 2-3 feet or water or less early through mid-morning. Look for concentrations of bait and feeding activity. Rain and a bit cooler temperatures should bring the water temps down a bit and extend fish activity later into the mornings. Late evenings should start to produce more fish as well as these conditions become more prevalent.. The fall bait run in not far off and then comes the annual migration of flounder through the inlet, so some great fishing is just a head. During the bait run try free-lining live mullet around structure that usually holds snook. To catch the flounder drift the inlet and jig the bottom with ¼ oz jigs rigged with twister tails. A trolling motor is a big help in both situations. Until next time. Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
