Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon Fishing Report-Sebastian Area
The fall bait run has started, now is the time to get out and start taking advantage of this annual feeding frenzy. All the rain and wind we have had has really muddied up the water around the Sebastian area and this situation has made fishing a bit more difficult. However, because of the increase of bait in the water the fish are feeding. Just scout around and look for the activity. Early mornings and late evenings are still the best times, but a few fish are taking advantage of the bait during other times of the day. Underwater points and shorelines are funneling the bait and these areas have been the focus of a lot of feeding activity by snook, jacks, larger trout, and a few reds. Top-water plugs, shallow diving plugs, larger jigs, and of course live finger mullet have all been effective at different times. Top-water has been best early and late in the day. When targeting fish among all the live bait use lures that have a lot of flash and noise and work them hard to get the fish to find them. Good times to target these fish is when the schools of bait are less abundant and the fish are less focused on the live stuff. Fish are still on the flats as well, but the bite has been a bit off because of the poor water clarity. As the bait run gets into full swing and water temps start cooling off the bite should last later into the day. Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
