Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon trout, redfish, and snook fishing report-Sebastian Area
The weather has been warm, but the winds have been bothersome and they have stirred up the water to the point where finding any clear areas has been difficult. The only fish that have been cooperating the last few weeks have been the small and medium sized trout, at least for me. The larger trout and reds have been very picky. The smaller and medium sized trout have been hanging along the edges of flats, islands, and mangrove shorelines and have been hitting Yo-Zuri 3D Fingerlings and late in the day even small top-water plugs such as the Yo-Zuri ZZ pop. The larger fish I have been finding have been in shallow back-water areas, but the fish have been hard to see due to poor water clarity and when we have put lures and bait in front of them they have generally turned it down. So, if you are looking for some action on trout it can be had, but anything large or with a reddish copper color the odds are much worse. If we can get some calmer weather and clear the water up a bit chances at larger trout and redfish should improve. In conclusion, I want to wish everyone a happy holidays and a great new year. Hopefully we all can continue to enjoy the wonderful fishing opportunities available in the east central Florida Area.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
