Central Indian River Lagoon

Capt. Ron Bielefeld
November 14, 2007
Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon trout, redfish, and snook fishing report-Sebastian area

The fishing the past couple of weeks has been tough with winds, cooler water temps, and dirty water hampering our ability to catch what we were after. Recent calmer winds and lack of rain have allowed the water to clear up and us to get out and fish more. As a result, the catching has improved a bit with trout, redfish, bluefish, jacks, and ladyfish keeping things active. We have been finding most of our fish along drop-offs around islands and the edges of grass flats where bait can still be found. Depths have varied from 3 to 6 feet of water. Jigs rigged with soft plastics such as the Rip-Tide Brand Curtailer and small shallow diving plugs such as the Yo-Zuri 3D Fingerling have been our best producing lures. We have been using white and day-glow colors with the most success. A slow presentation has been key to getting fish to strike. If the waters continue to clear up and the weather stabilizes a bit catch rates should continue to improve.

Until next time,

Tight-Lines to all.

Sincerely,

Capt. Ron Bielefeld
