Central Indian River Lagoon

Capt. Ron Bielefeld
November 29, 2007
Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon trout, redfish, and snook fishing report-Sebastian area

The weather has remained warm and the winds have been down for the last several days. This has given me a chance to break in the new boat (a Scout Boats Inc., 221 Winyah Bay check out on my website) and get some fishing in. The trout action on small to medium-sized fish has been good on the edges of flats. Late in the afternoons we have been catching some nicer fish on top-water on the flats. That is a nice bonus for late November! As usual, redfish have been scattered around the flats, edges, and dock areas. Snook action has been slow, but a few fish have been active around docks and other structure late in the day. If the warm weather continues until the full moon wanes, morning top-water action could really pick up. Hey, with water temps in the upper 70’s just about anything is possible. There are a few flounder in the Sebastian Inlet, but so far we have not been able to really pound the flatfish. I will keep checking, but there are a few to be had right now. Most of the action we have been having has come on 1/8 oz. jigs rigged with soft plastics such as the Rip-Tide Conley Grub or Curtailer. The most productive color has been root beer, which is a change from the recent past when we were doing best on day glow patterns. As long as the weather stays consistent the fishing should improve. Water clarity is improving slowly and this too should help the catch rate. Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.

Sincerely,

Capt. Ron Bielefeld
