Very slow around Sebastian

Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing around the Sebastian area was very slow this past week. The winds have been blowing for what seems like forever and the medium –sized trout are nowhere to be found in any numbers. We have been getting shots at some really big fish including trout, redfish, and snook, but the few shots we have each day make for a slow day overall. The water is clear, there is an abundance of bait, the grass looks good in some areas, but the fish just are not cooperating, or are not there period. If the wind would allow us to get outside along the beaches there are kingfish, bonita, Spanish, and a few tarpon to be had, but the wind has just been too high to get out. The fish we have been catching have been taking top-water spooks and poppers as well as the Yo-Zuri 3D Fingerling. Rip-Tide Flats Chubs also have enticed a few nice snook to eat. The large fish are shallow and near the mangroves for the most part, so tackle up and be prepared to cover some shoreline if you want strikes. The flats themselves although they look good are not producing like you think they should. Hopefully better weather and better catching is on the way. Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron Bielefeld
