Having to work for our fish

Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The wind and full moon have dominated our fishing this past week. As a result, we have had to work for our fish with each trip netting a few nice trout and maybe a few reds and snook to go along with the specks. We have been fishing every kind of structure available including docks, shallow flats, edges of flats, mangrove shorelines, and islands. Each place we go we get a few fish but nothing consistent. Along with all the structure we have been fishing we have been using a lot of different techniques. Jigs and soft plastics including Rip-Tide Brand Weedless Shrimp and Flats Chubs have been the best producers, but not far behind have been the old stand-by Yo-Zuri 3D Fingerlings. We have had a few fish on top-water and the best producing top-water plug has been the Yo-Zuri 3D Popper in the clear minnow pattern. As the full moon wanes hopefully the morning bite will get better and as water temps get back near 80 degrees the early top-water bite should improve too. There are quite a few mullet and glass minnows in the lagoon now, so minnow imitations should be productive from now on through the fall. Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
