Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Rick Stanczyk took Ed Grassia down for vacation in the keys out for a little half day backountry fishing trip today. The fishing in islamorada had been fantastic! Lots of fog this morning made it a little eerie riding back in the everglades this morning, but it lifted enough for a safe ride back. We fished a few runoffs and got into some nice trout, some ladyfish, and some jacks! Plenty of action, and lots of schools of mullet mudding around with porpoises going nuts feeding on them! We did that for an hour or so, then made our way up a little further in the same area and got into a great bite of redfish! Probably caught around 40 reds, 20 trout, a dozen ladyfish, and a dozen jacks. Spectacular fishing for just a couple hours! Also congratulations to my brother, Capt. Nick Stanczyk, who won the Islamorada Bartenders Sailfish Open on 1/10/11 with 7 sailfish releases for the day! He fished Skyler and the crew from "Dillons" pub and restaurant here in Tavernier, FL! He has won 3 out of the last 5 years with the Dillons crew!
